Fort Wayne Chiropractic Care for Spine and Related Musculoskeletal Pain
Pain causes us to be a bit self-centered instead of life-centered which is perfectly logical and logically global. People around the world experience pain, back pain, neck pain, musculoskeletal pain, a great deal of which is spine-centered. Luckily, Fort Wayne chiropractic care is locally available to help manage as well as ease spine-related pain.
GLOBAL IMPACT OF SPINE AND MUSCULOSKELETAL PAIN CONDITIONS
Data from an international study that monitored spine pain (neck pain and low back pain) patients from 1990 to 2019 revealed that the “years lived with disabilities,” incidence, and prevalence of both conditions grew significantly. Worldwide, neck pain and low back pain were observed to burden public health significantly, especially as people get older, being most problematic in middle age and older. Data also pointed out that these two conditions were more frequent in women and middle-aged groups and more frequent in higher socioeconomic indexed countries. (1) Not counting low back pain, neck pain, rheumatoid arthritis, or osteoarthritis, the same Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 reported that “other musculoskeletal disorders” increased by 123.4% from 221 million to 494 million people from 1990 to 2019. With over 150 different conditions impacting bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and the spine under the umbrella of “other musculoskeletal disorders,” health loss including death and disability due to musculoskeletal disorders is expected to keep growing. From 2020 to 2050, it is estimated to rise by 115% to 1060 million cases. More women are affected by 47.4% than men. The prevalence of these disorders topped out between 65 and 69 old for both men and women. UNDERSTANDING STANDING AND BACK PAIN
Back pain and neck pain are definitely two of our most typical painful spinal conditions at Cox Chiropractic Medicine Inc…and standing is a daily requisite! Everyone’s spine is a little different. How we each stand is a bit different…and that matters! A new study recorded bigger variations in lumbar lordosis (spinal curvature) like upright standing posture in a little more extension or more prominent curve like kyphosis may well affect musculoskeletal response as far as spinal loading and trunk muscle force. (3) We urge our patients to think about good posture which can positively affect your actually having good posture including standing up straight.
UNDERSTANDING SITTING AND BACK PAIN
And sitting is another daily activity that we all do often without a second thought (until pain makes us to think about it all the time!). In a new study, researchers wrote that unsupported sitting intensified intradiscal pressure by about 30% in comparison to upright standing. Intradiscal pressures were higher for sitting than standing when back angles were less than 20 degrees and higher for standing than sitting when the angles were more than 20°. Knowing these types of spinal responses are vital in the world of occupational health where lumbar musculoskeletal disorders are a major problem.
